Embracing Change: Nurturing the Bond with Our Adult Children at Sunday Supper

I look forward to the sound of the

door opening;

a confident entrance,

a perceived belief of welcome and belonging.

To walk into a space that is

still yours because you have left memories here,

scattered like the clothes and shoes

at your "new place."

There is no room where

you do not see yourself or the others

you have shared it with.

So with each step inside,

you trace old paths and set down new ones;

with topics, thoughts and weekly occurrences

shared around the table.

And always,

you leave behind footprints of your new experiences

and take home,

in addition to leftovers packaged with love,

the undeniable truth of

what home will always be for you.

Thank you for reading and considering these musings...

  To consider: Do you have a regular ritual, like a Sunday supper, in order to keep in touch with important people in your life?
