The Art of Pausing: Taking Your Time Before Making a Commitment Matters

A promise is a choice.

We have the choice

not to make a promise,

but when we do,

hope you have the character and integrity

to see it through.

But, hope isn't a plan;

either do or do not

as the green prophet professes...

it may be better to not make a promise

than to not follow through.

Think carefully about your words and actions,

and outcomes and consequences.

Don't speak or vow unless your plan

contains concrete steps that see you through

and keep you on track if you waver.

Let your "yes" be "yes" and

your "no" be "no".

Don't let others dictate your words.

There is no shame in "no",

but there can be in

"I've changed my mind"

when you know in your heart

you didn't pause to "take it" before you "make it."

Thank you for reading and considering these musings...

To consider: do you pause before you promise? Can you take a breath before you consider making a commitment?
