Make Space in Your Soul

It was time to put the Christmas decorations away

to reveal tabletops and windowsills,

vacuum up glitter and reveal the entirety of the fireplace.

To see a room that is flooded by soft white light partnered

with gentle shadows,

no longer consumed by color, sparkle, and rhythmic twinkling.

Harder yet to clean, the Calendar,

setting time and making a tea to savour during this journey,

breathing through each contemplation of:

What do I keep?

What can I release?

What do I tuck away and wait to notice its absense?

Decisions,

without the sensation of being smothered by obligation,

avoiding the desire to nudge new pieces between what is already

tight and restrictive.

I sit, a gentle heart rhythm, as I contemplate my days and my time

choicefully placing what does not "take up space"

but which truly makes room in my soul.

Thank you for reading and considering these musings...
