What We Grow From - The Roots That Hold Us

Roots

hold fast.

Histories, experiences;

we are weathered.

Sun, sleet, wind, rain, snow, parching heat

and yet we continue to grow

as we battle these elements.

Those before us did.

Even in the years they didn't gain

height or breadth

they hung on,

clung to the earth,

looked ahead with anticipation and

a fierce determination

not to be the era

of withering.

Roots,

deep, gnarled, entwined

over the generations.

What is above could not thrive or reach

without what is below - buried by years of

grit and grace.
